Three prestigious German companies from the watch industry - Sinn special watches for Frankfurt am Main, the Saxon watch technology from Glashütte (SUG) and the Uhren-Werke-Dresden (UWD) - have joined forces to create an exciting project. In order to give an adequate expression of the results of the joint work, the watch presented to the public at the beginning of 2016 bears the promising name "Meisterbund I". As a model 6200 from the house Sinn Specialuhren, it will inspire many watchmovers. One reason for this is the high-quality manufac- turing hand-held caliber, which is used in this extraordinary watch limited to 55 copies.
Three masters of their subject
In fact, the three companies are "masters" of their subject, meeting the highest demands on material, precision and quality. With the professional look for detail, they bring expertise, experience and lived values into the project. Sinn is a specialist watch for high-quality mechanical timepieces from Germany, which are especially appreciated by pilots, divers, firefighters and rescue workers. Special units, such as the maritime unit of the GSG9, also rely on the quality of use.
Several well-known watchmakers work together with the SUG, but the company is one of the leading manufacturers in the field of housing construction. Since 1998, the SUG has been producing technologically sophisticated and exclusive housings, for example made of stainless steel, titanium, submarine steel and precious metals. Zu Sinn Spezialuhren has been a close relationship since the founding of the company, not least because Dipl. Ing. Lothar Schmidt was one of the founding partners in 1999 and is still the main shareholder. The SUG has since then manufactured the technically sophisticated housings for Sinn special watches.
The UWD, on the other hand, has decided to strengthen the competitiveness of German watchmaking. In a state-of-the-art production facility, individual watch parts, complete clockworks and watches are developed and manufactured. The result is products that are distinguished by their exclusivity.
Proof of German engineering
For the Meisterbund I project, the SUG is responsible for the design and manufacture of the 18 kt rose gold case. Sinn special watches characterize the "face" of the watch, which is based on the classic masterpieces of the company and at the same time defines a shape, which depends on the functionality. UWD comes from the high-quality manufactory-hand hoist caliber with seconds stop, whose development has accompanied special watches for a long time. Due to the fact that the watch is designed and manufactured in Germany and all watch parts are from local production, Meisterbund I is also an impressive proof of the innovative power of German engineering and craftsmanship.
High quality manufactory
Made of a nickel silver alloy, the UWD manufactory handrail caliber with the flying spring house is a prime example of precision and functional strength. Thus, the watch has a 55-hour power reserve, whereby the gear is adjusted by rotating the eccentric weights in the balance system. This also compensates for the imbalance in the entire oscillating system of the watch. The return system, in turn, offers a further convenient fine-tuning and waste setting.
It should also be emphasized that all parts of the work are subjected to a noble finish. Blanks and globes are characterized by matt, diamond-scraped edges. The combination of frosted and polished surfaces gives the plant a particularly noble look, while diamondings emphasize the high quality. The elegant case is made of 18 kt rose gold, the dial itself is guilloched. The impression of a consistently thought-out watch completes the fact that the manufactory works with its diameter of 33 mm extremely harmoniously into the case with its diameter of 40 mm.
Limited to 55 copies
The Meisterbund I is limited to 55 copies, a discreet reference to the next 55th anniversary of Sinn special watches. This is documented by a stylish engraving on the bottom of the case.
